Creative Activism Party in Berlin

September 17th, 2008 by Frans Prins Posted in Activism, Berlin & Germany, Blog

Just wanted to tip my Berlin readers to the release party of creative activism magazine Mašta:

Mašta is a Berlin based global magazine for creative activists, “a collection of best practices of creative activism, where the mind of the artist merges with the thoughts of the activist.” The magazine, which was co-founded by me and Cecilia, is spread for free in about forty countries including many European countries and Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, USA, Jordan, Pakistan, Philippines, Nepal, Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil.

The release party is accompanied by the opening of an exhibition of Israeli Street Art in co-operation with Legal Action Gallery from Tel Aviv. Furthermore Pank Tv will perform DNA LIVE, an audiovisual performance, where sound and image are generated from DNA: “By translating the DNA, mRNA and Protein sequences of different Genes into MIDI, MIDI files are created to generate the sound and control the image variables in a real time environment.” Sounds exciting!

For those too curious: a sneak peek of the magazine can be downloaded from creativeacts.org – free copies can be collected at the party.

Friday the 19th Sept, 20.00 at Loesje’s Imagination, Karl-Kunger-Strasse 55 Berlin.
