Tennis Court Maintenance is a vital part of ensuring that your court will remain in good condition for as long as possible. Fortunately, most problems that affect your court can be prevented with proper maintenance and inspection.
One of the most important things you can do is to sweep your court on a weekly basis. This will remove leaves, pine needles and debris that not only stain the surface but also provide a breeding ground for mould and mildew.
Fungus growth is not a good thing for your court as it will scratch the surface and damage colorcoating. Scrubbing the fungus with a mild detergent of 2 parts trisodium phosphate and 4 parts water will help to get rid of it.
The Importance of Regular Tennis Net Maintenance
If you have a court that has cracks it is important to repair them as soon as they appear. The reason is that if the cracks are left unattended they will widen and deteriorate the surface. Cracks can be filled with a crack filler such as ProCorM’s ARMOR Crack Repair System which effectively spreads the stress of the crack over a wider area of expandable fabric.
It is also a good idea to keep all walkways around your court clear of debris that could become tracked onto the court and cause premature wear. This will also help to prevent erosion of the subbase which can lead to a variety of problems. We also recommend that you check your court monthly for standing water and puddles. Standing water can damage the coatings and cause mold & mildew to grow as well as allow water to enter the subbase which can result in bubbles under the surface.
